On Earth Day, Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed six clean energy bills into law, taking the first steps towards a clean energy economy in Virginia.
Among the bills, included the cost recovery for the construction or purchase of utility scale solar in Virginia (HB 2237, Del. Yancey), opening the way for large scale solar development, currently finding success in North Carolina and Maryland. The bill calls for the use of Virginia based companies, in part or in whole.
The momentum of this bill is the impetus for the development of a VA-REA stakeholder group focused on best management practices for implmenting the legislative intent of HB 2237 - creating jobs in Virginia through the fastest growing industry in the U.S. - the solar industry.
